Service: Noboru’s parents were immigrants from Japan. When he was seventeen years old, they moved back to Japan, but he chose to stay in Hawaiʻi. Unable to enlist, Noboru first worked as a civilian for the Army Corps of Engineers. Later, he volunteered for the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. Noboru lost his left arm in combat while in France rescuing the “Lost Battalion” of Texas National Guard troops.
Post-War: Noboru worked thirty-seven years as a comptroller at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard in California. He eventually retired to West Los Angeles and passed away in 2020.
