Miné Okubo

Miné Okubo (1912-2001) was born in Riverside, California. She received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley. After graduation, she created many mosaic and fresco murals, some of which were under commission. In 1946, Okubo and her brother were placed at the Topaz War Relocation Center. After internment, she moved to New York and wrote a book entitled Citizen 13660, which contained over 200 of her pen and ink sketches of her camp experience.
