Maya Lin

Maya Lin (b. 1959) was born in Athens, Ohio to immigrant parents. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Architecture degree from Yale University. Lin became famous at age 21 when her design beat 1,441 submissions when it was chosen for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. She went on to design the Civil Rights Memorial in Montgomery, Alabama, and many other significant sculptures and landscape installations.
