Kayla Bashore Smedley

Field Hockey

Kayla Bashore Smedley (b. 1983) was adopted from South Korea and grew up in Pennsylvania. Bashore Smedley began playing soccer but later excelled in field hockey. She eventually represented the United States in the sport at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics. After eight years of professional field hockey, Bashore Smedley retired for health reasons. She is currently the assistant field hockey coach for Brown University and has started two organizations that give children a chance to learn and play field hockey.
