Julie Chu

Ice Hockey

Julie Chu was born in New York City (1982) and graduated from Harvard University with a degree in psychology. When she was young, she tried soccer and figure skating but preferred hockey. She began by playing in the boy's hockey teams but eventually switched to the girl's teams. Chu became the first Asian American woman to join the US Women's Ice Hockey Team and played for a total of four Winter Olympic Games (2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014). She tied as the second most decorated US female in Winter Olympic Game history. In a pact with her family, everyone got tattoos when she made the team.
