Enid Ng Lim (1931-2008)
Enid Ng Lim Alley/Bartol Street (Telegraph Hill/North Beach, San Francisco)
Enid Ng Lim was a native-born San Franciscan who grew up in Chinatown. She cared a lot about the well-being of the people in her community. She brought two new MUNI bus lines to run through Chinatown, got lights and railings placed in the Stockton Street Tunnel and helped shield a senior housing facility from office development. Enid worked at the Chinatown Community Development Center where she was responsible for environmental issues, transportation, traffic and community fundraising. She helped to create a street sweeping and cleanup program for Chinatown and every Chinese New Year. Due to Enid's activism, her "village" became a city where endless services were provided to its residents.
