Doris Ling-Cohan
Judge
Doris Ling Cohan was born in New York Chinatown to Chinese immigrants. She worked part-time at a sewing factory to help support her family. After graduating with a JD from New York University, she began her legal career as an attorney and taught law in various universities and colleges. In 2002, she was elected to become the first Asian female judge to serve on the New York State Supreme Court.
