Chuck Aoki
Wheelchair Rugby Paralympian
Chuck Aoki (b. 1991) grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Due to a genetic condition, Aoki cannot feel anything below his knees and has had his fingers amputated. He began playing wheelchair basketball at age seven and switched to wheelchair rugby in high school. Aoki and his teammates won the bronze medal in the 2012 London Paralympic Games. He graduated from the University of Minneapolis in 2015 to be a high school teacher.
