Apolo Anton Ohno (b. 1982) holds the record for most won medals in the Winter Olympics (2 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze, for a total of 8 medals). He was born in Seattle, Washington to a father of Japanese descent and a mother of European descent, and was raised by his father after his parents divorced. After retiring from the sport in 2013, he became involved in programs that encouraged children to make positive and healthy choices. He created the Apolo Anton Ohno Foundation to discourage underage drinking of alcohol and to promote a healthy lifestyle.
