Amy Tan (b. 1952) has written many bestselling novels that focus on the Chinese American experience. She was born in Oakland, California to Chinese immigrant parents, and received her BA and MA degrees in English and Linguistics from San Jose State University. Tan has Chronic Lyme Disease and actively supports many organizations to educate the public about this stigmatized disease, like LymeAid4Ks that helps children with Lyme Disease.
