Amy Chow

Gymnast

Amy Chow (b. 1978) grew up in San Jose, California with her Chinese immigrant parents. She began gymnastic classes at age three because ballet schools would not take a child that young. When she was 18, Chow became the first Asian American woman to join the US Gymnastics Team to win a gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics. The team was famously known as the Magnificent Seven. Chow was inducted into the US Gymnastics Hall of Fame. She later graduated from Stanford Medical School in 2007 and is a general pediatrician.
